Viy, pronounced /v/, is an interdisciplinary artist and third generation hoarder. Their practice is rooted in the inability to let go. Interested in the histories objects hold and the stories told through accumulation, investigation and maintenance play a big role in their work. Focusing on the intersection of refuse, refusal, and re-fusing, their work aims to investigate the interconnections between our waste, our environment, the systems around us and ourselves.
Currently Viy is the Studio Assistant at The Joslyn's Kent Bellows Mentoring Program where they also teach arts management.
They work with BFF Omaha as the MaMo Gallery Director and Green Team Manager.
They are also a plot leader with Free Farm Syndicate.
